This non-endangered and beautifully colored wood is known for its durability and strength. This wood will keep its purple color with age if its exposure to light is minimized. Just keep it in its case. If exposed to light over years, it will turn purplish-brown, still remaining quite lovely. Purple heart is a very hard wood and generates a bright tone.
